ROLE:

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the organization. Your responsibilities include overseeing various financial activities and ensuring compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.

This position is part of the Finance team located in Vancouver, BC, and will be hybrid. The candidate needs to be in the office for 2 days/week in the downtown Vancouver office. An ideal candidate will have Oracle EBS accounting experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Be accountable for the preparation and review of financial reports for various stakeholders and offer additional insights that provide value to them.
  • Complete assigned projects, contributing to daily operations and reporting. Projects may involve additional research to enhance a process or policy, summarization of research findings, and proposing final recommendations.
  • Take ownership of the accounts receivable and revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Drive improvements in month-end closing processes through KPI tracking and the sharing of best practices across the group, including tracking of working capital, DPO, DSO, and operating expenses.
  • Provide periodic training, guidance, and education to finance and cross-functional teams on compliance activities such as updated corporate policies, revenue recognition memos, etc.
  • Regularly perform detailed reviews of month-end working papers and financial reports.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis focused on operational efficiencies.

Skills and Requirements

  • 5 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the SaaS industry.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Concur, Salesforce, Blackline, and Oracle Financials/Fusion is considered an asset.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
