About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Key Account Manager for our bakery in the Greater Toronto Area, this position will report directly to VP of Sales & Category Mgmt. The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships within the US and Canada. The KAM’s goal is to increase sales to our existing customers and acquire new customers to deliver continuous business growth. The KAM will collaborate with internal teams to build and execute customer business plans to achieve financial targets and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key customers.
  •  Identify potential customers in US and Canada and implement acquisition strategies.
  • Manage broker relationships to grow existing customers and acquire new accounts.
  • Understand the customer's strategy, business goals, needs, and challenges.
  • Develop and execute business plans for key accounts to achieve growth targets.
  • Create marketing plans and support marketing activities such as trade shows to grow sales and acquire new customers.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., R&D, procurement, operations) to launch new customers and product innovation.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics, such as sales revenue, client satisfaction, and new customer acquisitions.
  • Assists in product forecasting and inventory management.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly.
  • Use market and competitive insights to identify opportunities and threats for key customers and develop action plans.
  • Provide input for product innovation based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and internal teams to ensure effective problem resolution.

Skills and Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years in B2B food sales, US market experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in sales and key account management, with a track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • Prior experience in retail or foodservice would be an asset 
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross functional team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of the industry and market trends.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales-related tools.
  • Prior experience selling to food distributors an asset.
  • Prior experience in managing food brokers is a benefit.
  • Understanding wholesale, warehousing and transportation would be an asset.
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
